Hand-cut, welded, ground, and finished in our Fortuna shop with precision.
Delivered with install guidance or on-site installation in Humboldt County.
From his early days running Dine Art to building Mad Metals into Humboldt County's go-to custom fabrication studio, Byran has spent over two decades turning raw metal into art.
Every piece that leaves the shop is designed, cut, welded, and finished by hand — often from recycled and repurposed materials. From business signs to large-scale sculptures to community installations, every project gets the same care and craftsmanship.
His work is displayed at Redwood Capital Bank, the Fortuna Chamber of Commerce, the Humboldt County Fairgrounds, the Fortuna Senior Center, the Rohnert Park Peace Garden, and the Fortuna welcome sign. Featured in the Times-Standard, Mad River Union, and more.
"My work explores the intersection of industrial materials and natural forms. Each sculpture is built to honor movement, anatomy, and the expressive potential of metal. I strive to create pieces that feel alive — whether soaring, swimming, or blooming."
Byran created a prehistoric Dunkleosteus shark sculpture for Redwood Capital Bank's Arcata branch — joining two other mascot sculptures at the bank. Ribbon cutting ceremony held April 29, 2025.
